Hand to God, I just voted No. |
Last Post! |
I voted yes, but I haven't seen the movie yet so I have nothing to offer this discussion. Except, y'know, Bush si stoopid lol. PLUR, motherfucker!
Looks interesting, I'm quite sure I'll see it when it gets to the theatres here. |
Meh. Saving Throw vs Humanity
As much as I love the idea of someone sticking it to Bush, I just can't get excited about this movie. Throwing aside the fact that I think Michael Moore is corpulent, egocentric and not half as funny as touted, I find his films less interesting, even rational, than the one before. I have no problem with the fact that all of his films are highly skewed propaganda or that he is far happier to preach to the choir and get pat on the back, than to affect any real change in the world, but the logic, rationale, and even humanity of his films are dropping. Bowling for Columbine was a childish mess. Still, sure would to see someone stick it to Bush... S'right

Movie tickets are too expensive. If Billy Bob Thornton isn't in it, I can't afford to see it. pop quiz, hotshot: why does George Bailey allow Uncle Billy to live?
After Bowling for Columbine I lumped Moore into the same pile as Limbaugh, Coulter, O'Reily, et al. He's on the opposite end of the spectrum, but he's got just as much credibility. The only positive thing I can say is that he's honest about his dishonesty. I've seen a couple of interviews where he said he had no intention of being fair, and that this was decidedly slanted. Also, I don't think of his movies as documentaries. They're the film equivalents of political essays. Thrrrpptt!

I haven't seen the movie yet, and I'm of two minds. On the one hand, I want to see it because it's newsworthy. On the other, I think Moore is a propagandist (despite ultimately having the same political viewpoint on these issues that he does) and I don't relish the idea of him getting a portion of my hugely expensive theater ticket. I voted yes, not because I've seen it or intend to see it in the cinema, but because all the fuss over it amuses me. Half the country is out campaigning that everyone watch it and teach it at schools while the other half is demanding all copies be burned as a tribute to the Führer, and much like Bowling For Columbine nobody's bothered to pay much attention to the film itself. Dumdeedum: and much like Bowling For Columbine nobody's bothered to pay much attention to the film itself. On the contrary. While I've seen plenty of articles and shows lambasting Moore or hailing him, I've seen an equal amount, if not more, that analyze the film itself and talk about whether or not its message justifies his means of telling it, and whether or not the information is true, what he says or doesn't say in it, and what the implications of that are. Michael Moore looks so much like the Family Guy it's scary. I keep expecting his answers to interview questions to be funnier, but I guess it really is all about the writing. PLUR, motherfucker!
Because it's also a documentary, what are people's thoughts on "the corporation"? I'm planning to see it this weekend. Fear is the dark room where the devil develops his negatives.
Moore himself said it was a comedy to Matt Lauer last week. I've seen 2.5 mins of it, that was enough for me. |
The Corporation is a very good documentary. The narrator's voice annoyed me, but other than that it's great. PLUR, motherfucker!
I watched it yesterday. Interesting points are brought up for the first 3/4 (although they're all points you've heard if you spend any time on the interweb) of the movie, then the last part got really boring. Maybe I was too tired to pay close attention. |
I wonder what would make a polygamist tired? Fear is the dark room where the devil develops his negatives.

I'm just waiting for Lexx to come here and pimp his Fahrenheit Doom/3 mod. That's a beautiful way to go. Shot by Yot. In more ways than one. -mgns

It'd be called Fahrenheit Doom 3, but it would really be all about Abu Ghraib. PLUR, motherfucker!

I'm sure it would play like torture. Fear is the dark room where the devil develops his negatives.

I'm not trying to impress you! Fear is the dark room where the devil develops his negatives.
I hate Michael Moore, mainly because I'm on his side of the debate, yet he makes that side look extremely ridiculous. Fahrenheit 9/11 isn't ridiculous. He lets the footage do most of the talking, and there is way less skewing going on than in Bowling for Columbine. I'm actually impressed as hell with it, compared to his previous ventures. You've been out in the sun too long, Yot. That was about as unzingworthy as a comment can be, without actually having content. If you need something to do while you're staying out of the sun, consider driving to Scottsdale and getting us our goddamn shirts. PLUR, motherfucker!

No can do, Shadarr. I'm taking the family on vacation tomorrow. Oh, and little wood sucks. That's a beautiful way to go. Shot by Yot. In more ways than one. -mgns

Sigh. It's on my to-do list. And I'm going up to the pines tomorrow. Fishing, hiking, and videotaping, all culminating with my 31st birthday. That's a beautiful way to go. Shot by Yot. In more ways than one. -mgns

michael moore is fat |

Bush sucks. I can't wait to vote against him. It is somewhat of a shame that my vote against has to go to someone as unexciting as John Kerry but so be it. Comment Signature

Yeah, G-Man, I suppose the video's running time WOULD be about 72 hours. I would need to cut it down. That's a beautiful way to go. Shot by Yot. In more ways than one. -mgns
