The End of the Exclusive?
August 30th 2003, 23:18 CEST by JMCDaveL So on Thursday pretty much every gaming site that hosts downloads banded together against Gamespy's exclusive on the Call of Duty demo. After thousands of sweating hamburger stained forum dwellers screamed "NO YUO~!!!" in unison, Activision has decided to release the demo to everyone... early at that. So, does this mean that anytime Gamespy gets special attention then the interweb militia will take up arms and cry until Gamespy has to share its toys again? Also, will the idiots who set nasty emails to Caryn over this die a horrible death involving knitting needles and a hummer? |

Chuckles strikes again. "YES!! You see people, THAT'S why he's the Vice-President of A/V Services here at Respawn Games. Yotsuya ALWAYS unleashes the fucking fury!" - Warren Marshall

Off topic, no flamebait. Just that I find this most interesting after seeing "28 Days Later". http://www.thebulletin.org/issues/2003/so03/so03kelley.html "All things fall and are built again,
And those that build them again are gay." (W. B. Yeats) |

Let us know if it's at all entertaining, Hulka. The knowledge that you exist is a burden on my soul.

If you've seen the shaving trailer.....ugh! It is compelling in a horror-fun kind of way. Just tell me this - why do most people's media access-list read permit any any ? Filter the tide of crap, for chrissakes.

Back on topic (somewhat), Sony has released the Lords of Everquest demo. But wait! They are going to release 3! different demos, and each will be exclusive to a different party. Not only that, if you care enough to get this complete ripoff demo from each of the places, you'll get a bonus! Apparently Sony isn't going after people that are mirroring, as the "GameSpot Exclusive" is also being hosted by Fileshack. Here's the PR: Sony Online Entertainment Inc. (SOE), a worldwide leader in massively multiplayer online gaming, today announced that it will soon be releasing three separate playable demos for its forthcoming real-time strategy (RTS) game, Lords of EverQuest(TM). Each demo allows the player to sample the game's tutorial missions and play one of three factions via online multiplayer. Lords of EverQuest is expected to ship to U.S. and Canadian retail stores this Fall. "Our aggressive demo program should give players a taste of the exciting gameplay Lords of EverQuest has to offer," said Michael Lustenberger, director of product marketing, Sony Online Entertainment. "GameSpot, NVIDIA and Computer Games Magazine give us the opportunity to reach a broad base of gamers across their respective outlets." The first demo for the Shadow Realm faction will be available exclusively via download from GameSpot.com (http://www.gamespot.com) beginning on September 19. The second demo, featuring the Elddar Alliance, will be available initially via download from NVIDIA's NZone website (http://www.nvidia.com/nzone) on September 29, and at select retail partners including GameStop and Electronics Boutique beginning October 6. The final demo, for the game's still-unannounced third faction will be available exclusively on the demo disc off the November 2003 issue of Computer Games Magazine. As an added incentive for players to collect all three Lords of EverQuest demos, having all three demos installed unlocks a special bonus multiplayer map. We are OK in a misguided, sadist way.
We are OK in a disabled veteran's way. We are OK. |
