Are ye a goodie or a baddie?
December 10th 2002, 12:36 CET by deadlock One of the things that happened in the wake of the release of Grand Theft Auto 3 was that people inevitably got round to talking about what would make the game even more fun. Some said more realism (ie, cops that don't forget about you just cos you've changed the colour of your car), some said more weapons, some wanted better graphics and some just asked for more vehicles. But most people were in agreement that some kind of multiplayer portion was an absolute must. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City addressed most of these points to some degree and with varying levels of success (it actually managed to introduce problems of it's own that weren't present in GTA3), but the multiplayer option was still missing. Not surprising, given that it took just one year to produce. There's been tons of space in various forums and discussion sites (including PC) given over to fantasising about multiplayer in future iterations of GTA, so I'm not going to discuss it here. Instead, what I want to explore is what you would like to see added to the games to flesh out the single-player experience. For my part, I'd love to see Rockstar explore the other side of the Law and Crime divide, or maybe give the player the option to choose what kind of role he/she wishes to play; maybe from the outset, the player's actions in the game world determine what kind of missions come their way and, ultimately, what path they go down. I know it would be a lot of work, but look at how much they crammed into Vice City in the space of a year. |

Is this a wind up ? I was under the direct impression that they actualy REMOVED the necesary files. Can you give an example of such an instance? Ie: Level 2, Joe's bar - see naked lady dance in US version Level 2, Joe's bar - see no lady in AU version Changing your system region settings will let you see prostitute banging in PC GTA3.. that's all I said. :).. I said nuttin about naked ladies!! I don't think there are any naked ladies dance in GTA3 come to think of it. I have a crocodile down my pants.

tsk tsk.. that was JUST an example..... i heard that you could bash/kill those fucking whores in the non AU version... in fact what WAS removed from the AU game. ??? anyone have the hard facts ? does the OOFALC have a site with what they have removed from games as they have movies ? because the PS2 version came.... sold mucho copies got recalled... got cut and sold again.. i saw the "banned" version for $150... where did you get this info from ? ar you in AU ? have YOU *SEEN* this for yourself ? Ng out.....

whan i say i "saw" the banned version i mean the box not the actuall gameplay. pS: all OZ'ers here... (AU men) i was informed that because of those afros in D.C. shooting them people with the rifle, once again the AU version of vice city will have the rifle removed ? can anyone confirm this ? i wonder how much influence natasha stedjespoia(?) (whore) has in banning/censoring games.... i mean she is a man hater lesbo after all.... Ng out.....

A cop couldn't kill anyone unchecked... Eh you can't really do that in GTA3 / VC, either. Sure, you can knock a few people off before the cops start hunting on you, but given enough bodies you'll get chased down. And in VC, it happens that much more quickly if you kill people with a cop nearby (can't remember if the same happened in 3). I could see the character being a vigilante or hollywood cop ... the kind that have no hesitation in taking someone's vehicle and eventually smashing it up in a car chase. I mean, wouldn't it be boring otherwise? Though I think there's a market for a highway patrol game ... "Woah ... CHiPs!" |

ATTENTION ALL: can someone help me ? i am attempting to locate a movie. it's fairly new 1997-???? it's a teen comedy spoof but is NOT: scary movie, not another teen movie, looser, american pie 1 or 2. it has a toilet scene, where 3-4 boys are in a cubicle in a female toilet. left of hers. she is sitting on the bowl making caca when she does prutt.... one of the boys says:"wow, i never heard a girl drop her guts before".. then they colapse in on her side... what movie was it from ??? thanks... One thing I would like from GTA3 is another way to stop police coming after you. To get their blood up, you have to be violent, but to get rid of them requires this fairly pacifistic method of spraying your car (or, if you're good, running the police badges). I'd like the option of being able to blow up the head quaters of the island I'm on to get them off my back temporarily... ofcourse, the closer to the HQ you'd get, the more police would be on you. This would be as well as the spray paint option. This is obviously just idle thoughts and wishing. The other thought I had was somewhat of an approximation to multiplayer bots. Say you nab the BF Injector after completing the mafia missions: wouldn't it be cool if your pager informed you that "Tony is looking for the wiseguy who stole his car" and from then on, Tony's a persistantly active AI thug, much like yourself, stealing cars and nabbing guns, just stocking up to come and find you and kill you. So, for once, someone is planning a non deterministic hit on YOU rather than the other way round (as is usual). My only problem with Bezzy is, truly and honestly, about one third of his longer, passionate posts make no sense to me. I don't necessarily agree or disagree, I just literally can't parse them. - Hugin

So has anyone played Arx Fatalis? I played through the demo, and enjoyed it a fair amount, thinking of grabbing the full game today. Was looking for a recommendation from a crapper before I went and dropped my cash on it. |

Charles-- Overall, Arx Fatalis is pretty good. Some of the puzzles can be pretty obscure, and having to go back and forth between areas gets pretty annoying. If you liked UU and UU2 you'll probably enjoy it. I did. |

Warren is absolutely right. The version of GDI that Windows windows and common controls use to draw themselves under Windows 98 isn't capable of doing proper alpha-blending needed for the transparency effect. People who don't run Windows 2000 or above deserve all the pain they get. Upgrade, fool. |
