A secret global conspiracy of game developers that control society?
August 11th 2001, 13:38 CEST by Tommy I am not sure if this deserves its own topic (<i>it does - mr0n the phantom ed</i>) but as a common lurker I didn't feel I could just drop it carte blanche into whatever topic thread was currently underway. A friend told me about this site: <a href="http://www.gameilluminati.com">http://www.gameilluminati.com</a> That is apparently a members only bulletin board. You cannot access it without a password. Apparently it is 'invitation only' for industry people. Beyond the password members enter a holy grail of mature discussions and non- flaming objective discussions about the merits of games, as debated by an elite few. Interestingly enough, this board is registered to a one George Broussard, he of 3D Realms fame. Unfortunately, I myself work for a Publisher and am hence patently evil, so will no doubt never get to feast on the intellectual riches within (it's for developers who have shipped titles only). I would be interested to know if loyal PlanetCrappers from the development side have been exposed to the joys of www.gameilluminati.com and if so, if perhaps they could 'illuminate' us on the merits of this site? Is this a joyous site, protecting true captains of the industry and allowing them a safe haven for discourse? Or is this a dangerous and subversive, insidious form of elitism that harms us all? Could www.gameilluminati.com spell the end of our honorable PlanetCrap (<i>No! Never! - mr0n the phantom ed</i>)? Will we see gamesbiz professionals flee in search of greener, safer pastures yonder? Please Comment and discuss. Me, I'm just fascinated and nosey. |

Wow. I want to know what's in there. -- Dethstryk Thought Coma |

Why is that server running in Davies, Florida then? Strange. -- Dethstryk Thought Coma |
#2: That doesn't matter. It could be set up anywhere and controlled remotely... |
Warren.... I know you've been in there.... Spill it!!! Funk. |
I think Game Illuminati is a good thing. |
Anything which keeps them sharp is a good thing. In reality, they probably just use it to trade notes on the boring yet necessary aspects of industry. That and coordinate beer runs. |
It's just another private newsgroup, there are hundreds of those among game companies |
**delurks** The first rule of gameilluminati.com is you don't talk about gameilluminati.com. The second rule of gameilluminati.com is that you don't talk about gameilluminati.com. Do I need to repeat myself? ;) **relurks** |

and on another topic...... does ANYone here know of a program (commercial or otherwise) that let's you capture flash ? i'd like to "grab" some nice intros from sites at work and show them to my crippled friend with no internet access at his home on a laptop. NO REALLY!! |
*whistles* *backs away slowly* ;) It's just a private messageboard exclusively for game developers. It allows us to discuss issues related to game development away from the public eye -- which means we can say things we normally can't, etc. Nothing subversive going on. :) |
#10 Nothing subversive going on. :) **Watches Warren being whisked away by masked men** |
9# Flash intros are probably saved as .swf files in your temporary internet files directory under windows. Grab 'em from there. |
So who decides the membership? Who gets to decide who is and who isn't a "game developer"? |
So who decides the membership? Who gets to decide who is and who isn't a "game developer"? George. Members are by invite only and George screens everyone who applies. |

Do the Illuminati have neuter characters? You're thinking of the castrati. |

Actually this is true. The founders of the video game industry are all Free Masons. Have you ever wondered why so many games are fantasy? Well they aren't fantasy, that's how the world actually exists out there. And Command and Conquer is more of a voodoo game. You are actually controlling real people who are located on another planet. The funny thing is, two planets were taken hostage by the illuminati, and one was given the game Dominion, the other Command and Conquer. Needless to say, the planet of Dominion is very peaceful. - Paul |

The scary thing is Warren could be feeding us lines, and you're believing him! What happened to that good old PlanetCrap scepticism! Heh, of course, I'm only kidding around. Wow... It's nice to see the 'Crap back somewhat to its roots and looking better than ever... I might start visiting regularly again... ;-) |

"The first rule of making a fight-club joke is to make sure the joke hasn't already been made in the same thread." lol. OWNED! :) |

It's a brilliant thing. I swear, just two days ago, I was thinking about the glorious flame-free bullshit-less sanctuary that having created real product gives one access to: take me for example. I've got a few clever ideas, most will admit, but I clearly don't care right now about how and where and why I wave them around, and I've got no tangible evidence that I can show to anyone that says, "See, I really do know what I'm talking about." So, duh. I don't get to sit at the big kid's table, and I definitely don't get to see what's on the menu. Sigh. If only I had buried the box of money in my backyard while I was thinking of it, who knows where I might be now... My hat's off to you, George. I always knew, that just because you had a hand in creating some of the most soulless and shallow products ever made, that was no indication that you weren't clearly a man of some significant intellect. It just so happens, my name that I use here is an acronym with sekrit ties to the Illuminati. I'm quite serious. If you would be so generous as to grant me lurker-only status over there, I'd be happy to sign whatever kind of binding NDA you'd require. I'm honest; make me a fair bribe, and I'll stay bought. It is clear that more exposure to how successful adults behave can only benefit me, yes? |
Is this a joyous site, protecting true captains of the industry and allowing them a safe haven for discourse? Wel it will be for a while. Then Developer A, who's been hiding a secret grudge against Developer B for accidently bumping into him at E3 and never apologizing, decides to create a geocities site and put the contents of Developer B's flamewar with Developer C up for all the world to see. |
Jafd, casually interested in what ties your name has to the Illuminati I did a quick search on Google to find:... Jedi Apprentice: Fan Dimension Jaist Aggressive Flying Disc club Japan FM Data Broadcast (why this was abbreviated to JAFD I'm not sure) and a particular model of a kind of "foam tank", whatever the whippity-snaps that is. I'm guessing that it still remains a mystery. |

The first rule of making a smartass comment is a little setup so the other 97% of people know who you're talking to and what you're talking about (That excludes the 3% of people who just naturally "get" these kinds of things) |

#43: Well, you know how it goes. I could tell you, but then... |

jafd My hat's off to you, George. I always knew, that just because you had a hand in creating some of the most soulless and shallow products ever made, that was no indication that you weren't clearly a man of some significant intellect. And people wonder why illuminati exists? :) |
#47: Bingo. In the same vein, please allow me to mention that for precisely those same reasons, I'm not going to decloak my speech in a place of public entertainment such as this. Must feed the crowd biscuits, not limbs. BTW, how is it going? It has been almost nine days now, and I suspect you really are observant, despite your repeated claims to the contrary. 1/4 the suggested dosage ought to have been more than enough for you to collect enough data. Since it is clear now you have access to a hobby of far greater interest and value than the mere playing of games, though, perhaps 8 weeks might be needed. Let me know if you need more time. |

Oh, come now. Your credibility at playing dumb is totally non-existent now. Especially in this thread. Your cover is blown! La Resistance, lives on! Look! I posted at #45... AND now at #50!! Two FIVES! Don't you see??!?! Don't expect me to believe that you are my puppet. I'm far too clever for that. *ahem* On a serious note: if you are serious about not knowing, and are serious about wanting to, email me. Otherwise, don't fuck with Mr. Zero. Resistance is futile. Ninety-threeeeeeeeee, biznatch! |
