Our long national nightmare averted - NFL season is on, fantasy football owners rejoice. And other sportsy topics.

I'm happy doing the 27th...or we can push it to the 3-4th. I THINK I'll be able to make those dates. "programmers talk from a very deep gnome cavern, full of gold mechanics" - wisdom from the ancients
The 27th might be hard for me. |
I can do Sunday if it's over by about 3pm Pacific. "I hope you one day decide to smarten the fuck up so I can stand to look at your posts." - gaggle
I'll basically do anything, even if it means getting up in the middle of the night. And damnit, changing my team name! \"Making love to a woman is like working on an assembly line. No matter how good you are at it, you\'ll eventually be replaced by a foreigner or a machine.\"
IME the autopicker can pick a very competent starting lineup (the year I won was an autopick). It fails when picking your reserves as it loads up on 5 kickers or so since they score a lot of points. I don't know what CBS did, but I distinctly recall one year you could set up the autopicker to pick the best available at a specific position each round. It sucks that went away. But champions are won/lost on the waiver wire. <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.
I'm traveling for the holiday weekend. So I would prefer any date except Sept 2nd-5th. "The buyer of a [credit default swap] does not need to own the underlying security or other form of credit exposure; in fact the buyer does not even have to suffer a loss from the default event." WHEEEE!
Looks like this Sunday might be our best bet? Maybe something like 1 PM Pacific / 4 PM Eastern / 6 AM Sydney. I don't mind going with a weeknight either if that would work better, something like Thursday night Sept 1. |
Hurricane Sunday? Are you trying to cripple me! What was it, all the greif from the Armchair? <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.
Oh, this is awesome, the project path of the hurricane right now has a big old H right over my town. <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.
Fuck I don't want this to be my first ever autodraft hell year. Can we do it on an evening? |
Being in the pacific, and having a day job, I would need sometime after 6pm PST. I could work out an evening within those parameters. "programmers talk from a very deep gnome cavern, full of gold mechanics" - wisdom from the ancients
Cheesy- If we don't have the Armchair this year, we'll be severely disappointed. 52 Weeks and Something's On Movie Blog
I don't mind evening either - if Sunday is no good, I'm fine with any weeknight afterwards. |
I think I can do Sunday night, or Monday night and probably any week night. |
I'm wondering if by the time you guys come to a consensus on a time to hold the draft, will the season have already started? |
Weeknight works well for me, too. I'd suggest the night of the 6th, but that may be cutting it close. <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.
I'm still down for anything, but if we could avoid Sunday @ 9PM CST that would be great, since that's another one of my drafts. But as the newbie to the league, I'd draft two at once if needed. \"Making love to a woman is like working on an assembly line. No matter how good you are at it, you\'ll eventually be replaced by a foreigner or a machine.\"
He'll do it! Don't make him do it! "programmers talk from a very deep gnome cavern, full of gold mechanics" - wisdom from the ancients
I'm going to end up doing all of you. \"Making love to a woman is like working on an assembly line. No matter how good you are at it, you\'ll eventually be replaced by a foreigner or a machine.\"
Weeknight works well for me, too. I'd suggest the night of the 6th, but that may be cutting it close. I'd rather shoot for this upcoming week, as if anything drastic happens and we need to reschedule we'll still have some time to play with. |
Fair enough. <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.
I'd prefer Thursday evening if it's this week. "I hope you one day decide to smarten the fuck up so I can stand to look at your posts." - gaggle
So when is the damn thing? |
when is our draft? Can we have some formal post form the commissioner when it is a sure thing? "The buyer of a [credit default swap] does not need to own the underlying security or other form of credit exposure; in fact the buyer does not even have to suffer a loss from the default event." WHEEEE!
We'll go with Thursday night at 7 Pacfiic / 10 Eastern / Fri 12 PM Sydney |
Also, what should we do with the newcomers? Front of the draft? Middle, at the end? |
I'd say the middle. As a former winner/runner up I really like the end of the draft and picking quickly after that. Naturally the last placers from last year should get that benefit along with the earlier picks, so, the most neutral would be to put them in the middle. <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.
So draft order would be: 1. McBain 2. Perkins 3. yot 4. Trunks 5. eggy 6. Deth 7. Wudi 8. Shadarr 9. jj 10. lwf 11. Poof 12. m0nty I'm putting Deth first as he's been itching to get in for a couple years now. |
This is the first time I've had the first pick in a fantasy draft ever. "The buyer of a [credit default swap] does not need to own the underlying security or other form of credit exposure; in fact the buyer does not even have to suffer a loss from the default event." WHEEEE!
Excellent! \"Making love to a woman is like working on an assembly line. No matter how good you are at it, you\'ll eventually be replaced by a foreigner or a machine.\"
I actually just wrapped up a snake draft with spot 6 out of 12, so I'm totally prepared for this no matter how you guys draft, snake or linear. \"Making love to a woman is like working on an assembly line. No matter how good you are at it, you\'ll eventually be replaced by a foreigner or a machine.\"
Second pick huh? Manning here I come! "programmers talk from a very deep gnome cavern, full of gold mechanics" - wisdom from the ancients
We'll go with Thursday night at 7 Pacfiic / 10 Eastern / Fri 12 PM Sydney Sounds good to me. Lets make sure we put this notice up everywhere...so I don't forget! :P "programmers talk from a very deep gnome cavern, full of gold mechanics" - wisdom from the ancients
This could actually be an interesting first couple picks, what with Peyton Manning injured and Chris Johnson holding out. I have no idea who to draft, aside from watching the 49ers games and bits and pieces of other games, I have no idea what's going on with anyone. Who will be good? Who will suddenly suck? Hell, who is even on what team? The lockout totally killed my offseason interest in football, so I'm still out of touch. "I hope you one day decide to smarten the fuck up so I can stand to look at your posts." - gaggle
Yea, I'm pretty out of touch too. I'm not sure how to draft and haven't read anything about anybody. Throw in that mix Arian Foster pulled a hammy, who's number 1 is pretty hazy. Anyway, championships are won on the waiver wire. <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.
I'm pretty sure I'm taking AP with the first pick, FYI. "The buyer of a [credit default swap] does not need to own the underlying security or other form of credit exposure; in fact the buyer does not even have to suffer a loss from the default event." WHEEEE!
Dammit!!!! I really have no choice but to pick Foster if AP is gone. And then pick his backup later I guess. "programmers talk from a very deep gnome cavern, full of gold mechanics" - wisdom from the ancients
You have no choice? You have more choices than anyone other than Mcbain. "I hope you one day decide to smarten the fuck up so I can stand to look at your posts." - gaggle
Thank you, Captain Obvious! "programmers talk from a very deep gnome cavern, full of gold mechanics" - wisdom from the ancients
And these posts are why I love that trunks put me at the sixth pick. \"Making love to a woman is like working on an assembly line. No matter how good you are at it, you\'ll eventually be replaced by a foreigner or a machine.\"
I'm 9th? I don't remember doing that well last year. My memory must be fuzzy. |
You made the playoffs. |
A look at last year's draft: eggbert's analysis Cheesy's 'analysis' |
Love the passive aggressive quotes, Trunks. You'll be the first Kotite of the week! <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.
haha, didn't notice until Cheesy pointed it out. "The buyer of a [credit default swap] does not need to own the underlying security or other form of credit exposure; in fact the buyer does not even have to suffer a loss from the default event." WHEEEE!
I'm going to have the best paragraph in a draft analysis. Speaking of, I just realized having our draft Thursday robs me of precious football analysis to figure out how high I should draft Ryan Mallett \"Making love to a woman is like working on an assembly line. No matter how good you are at it, you\'ll eventually be replaced by a foreigner or a machine.\"
I plan on showing up for the draft this year. Which means I will need another excuse instead of the autodrafter giving me five kickers... "programmers talk from a very deep gnome cavern, full of gold mechanics" - wisdom from the ancients
Just don't draft the Texans in the first round. That's what I'm doing. Wade fist bump. \"Making love to a woman is like working on an assembly line. No matter how good you are at it, you\'ll eventually be replaced by a foreigner or a machine.\"
The Foster says I might have to break that policy... "programmers talk from a very deep gnome cavern, full of gold mechanics" - wisdom from the ancients
Oh that's fine. I'm talking Texans D/ST. All mine, baby. \"Making love to a woman is like working on an assembly line. No matter how good you are at it, you\'ll eventually be replaced by a foreigner or a machine.\"
