Sports thread for 2011-2012, at the very least given how long topics stick on the front page.

I'm happy doing the 27th...or we can push it to the 3-4th. I THINK I'll be able to make those dates.

I can do Sunday if it's over by about 3pm Pacific.

I'll basically do anything, even if it means getting up in the middle of the night.

And damnit, changing my team name!

IME the autopicker can pick a very competent starting lineup (the year I won was an autopick). It fails when picking your reserves as it loads up on 5 kickers or so since they score a lot of points. I don't know what CBS did, but I distinctly recall one year you could set up the autopicker to pick the best available at a specific position each round. It sucks that went away. But champions are won/lost on the waiver wire.

I'm traveling for the holiday weekend. So I would prefer any date except Sept 2nd-5th.

Looks like this Sunday might be our best bet? Maybe something like 1 PM Pacific / 4 PM Eastern / 6 AM Sydney.

I don't mind going with a weeknight either if that would work better, something like Thursday night Sept 1.

Hurricane Sunday? Are you trying to cripple me! What was it, all the greif from the Armchair?

Being in the pacific, and having a day job, I would need sometime after 6pm PST. I could work out an evening within those parameters.

Weeknight works well for me, too. I'd suggest the night of the 6th,  but that may be cutting it close.

I'm still down for anything, but if we could avoid Sunday @ 9PM CST that would be great, since that's another one of my drafts. But as the newbie to the league, I'd draft two at once if needed.

Also, what should we do with the newcomers? Front of the draft? Middle, at the end?

#119 by CheesyPoof
2011-08-29 05:33:26
I'd say the middle. As a former winner/runner up I really like the end of the draft and picking quickly after that. Naturally the last placers from last year should get that benefit along with the earlier picks, so, the most neutral would be to put them in the middle.

So draft order would be:

1. McBain
2. Perkins
3. yot
4. Trunks
5. eggy
6. Deth
7. Wudi
8. Shadarr
9. jj
10. lwf
11. Poof
12. m0nty

I'm putting Deth first as he's been itching to get in for a couple years now.

This could actually be an interesting first couple picks, what with Peyton Manning injured and Chris Johnson holding out.  I have no idea who to draft, aside from watching the 49ers games and bits and pieces of other games, I have no idea what's going on with anyone.  Who will be good?  Who will suddenly suck?  Hell, who is even on what team?  The lockout totally killed my offseason interest in football, so I'm still out of touch.

Yea, I'm pretty out of touch too. I'm not sure how to draft and haven't read anything about anybody. Throw in that mix Arian Foster pulled a hammy, who's number 1 is pretty hazy.

Anyway, championships are won on the waiver wire.

I really have no choice but to pick Foster if AP is gone. And then pick his backup later I guess.

I'm going to have the best paragraph in a draft analysis.

Speaking of, I just realized having our draft Thursday robs me of precious football analysis to figure out how high I should draft Ryan Mallett
