The Pats took me down too. Brady got 41 points this week. Asshole.

The PCFFL Coach's Armchair Week 1

Welcome back friends to the PCFFL Armchair. The rookies got a nice PCFFL welcome by losing their openers. This isn’t a game for the weak and timid. Post lockout, offenses ruled the roost for the most part, with some records being broken. Cam Newton set a rookie record with 400+ yards in a debut, Brady threw for 500+ and there were a 8 kicks returned for touchdowns. Ridiculous. Conventional wisdom is that it’ll take defenses another week or two to get to full steam so playing those D/STs will be a dice roll. Get your tums ready, it’s going to be a wild ride. On to the show.

Weekly Recap
NJ vs. BOS -- Brees (34), Hightower (10.5) and McFadden (13.5) oh my. Those three combined for 58 of the Devils’ 72.5 points in beating the Leet Doodz. Early season favorite Doodz didn’t get anything from QB Ryan (9) and will need him to step up. In a week that saw QBs throwing TDs left and right this has to be a concern for Boston. The top scorer for Boston was Miles Austin with 10.5 points (followed by K Folk at 10).

AUS vs. SF -- Poor, poor CGI Robots. It appears that they shot first and the not-a-Redbeards wiped the floor with them. Starting Schaub against the Manning-less Colts sounds like a great idea, but even though the Texas wiped the floor with them Schaub only got 6 points while Ryan Fitzpatrick’s 28 points sat on the bench. Take solace with the fact that it wouldn’t have been enough anyway to be the not-a-Redbeards and their weekly winning 107.5 points. m0nty had 3 players in the 20’s (Brees, McCoy and Tolbert) that would have been almost enough to beat the Robots. The commish has had a run of awful luck in recent years, so for all ours sake here’s hoping that it changes quick.

ATX vs. DETH -- The Arkansas TD’s entered Monday night leading the Blaha’s and had the pleasure of watching that lead evaporate into a blowout loss while watching Wes Welker scamper 99 yards for a score. Welkers 26 points led the Blaha’s and provided the welcome wagon for the TDs. Kenny Britt led the TDs with 24.5 points.

UTA vs. POU -- The TD’s weren’t the only team in the line of the Monday night buzzsaw as the Marinos were socked by QB Tom Brady and his 41 points that were almost half of the Teen Brides 97.5 point total. A 25 point led, while not a sure thing against Brady, must have felt comfortable. Instead it was a 15 point loss for the Marinos which spoiled a 28 point game from Matt “Glass Shoulder” Stafford.

PIT vs. ARI  -- It was awfully early for a Toilet Bowl, but this game was it as the Outlaws lucked out in facing the only team in the league they could have beaten this week. Big Ben’s Boners made a big boner of their own by making the rookie mistake of starting a QB (or any offensive stud) against their D/ST. It’s an inherently points limiting move which directly caused the Boners to lose. Consider this, if Big Ben threw 300 yard and 2 TD’s that would have been 22 points but the Raven’s D/ST would have been 0. Any turnovers offset each other and it’s a waste. Instead the Boners saw Flacco’s 22 points ride the pine. The Outlaws got luck autopicking Rodgers and got 30 points from him, but the rest of the team totaled 22 points which was only 6.5 better than the Boners. Both are going to have to improve next week if they want to avoid a long year in the PCFFL.

VAN-L vs. VAN-S -- Cripes, can either of these fuckers change their name? It was kinda-sorta-amusing when they were in different towns, but now is just annoying. The ElDubyaEff Rough Riders had two players in the 20’s (Ray Rice and Tony Romo) to lead them to a division win over crosstown rivals the Roughriders. The good news for the Roughriders is that Kolb appears to be for real as he led them with 23 points, but the bad news is that there isn’t anyone else on the team that can keep pace with him. Reggie Wayne somehow got 17 points in the drubbing aginst the Texans, and the only other player in double digits was the Jets D/ST.

Coach of the Week

This is an excruciating tough call to make, but one must recognize the Coach of the week regardless of one’s disposition. Therefore, I award this week’s award to the defending champion, m0nty of the not-a-Redbeards. Come on, lwf, lets not award this to m0nty next week.

Kotite of the Week

This week’s award goes to Wudi and Big Ben’s boners. The self limiting move to start a DST opposite a QB suppressed their score to no only a losing total, but the lowest team in the league. Switching out Big Ben for Flacco would have given the Boners the win. Hopefully this will be a lesson learned for the rookies in the league.

A Look Ahead

Good old week 2 in the NFL. Maybe we’ll see a return to normalcy for DSTs. It’s doubtful the Pats will see 600+ yards of total offense next week.

The game of the week sees the mortal enemies Rough Riders facing the not-a-Redbeards.

General Shit

I can’t believe that my Giants lost to Washington. Yea, the Redskins were due, but 300+ yards to Rex Grossman (a PCFFL free agent BTW)? Cripes. I hope some of the defensive starters come back.

It was glorious to see the Cowboys self implode and blow the game to the Jets. The sad part was that Romo’s performance most reminded me of Eli Manning.

I’m glad for the Bills. I hope they do well, but it’s a tough division.

I heard on the radio today that kicksoffs resulted in ~50% of touchbacks. I have to wonder how many injuries this will reduce. I’m not sure it’s going to be that many to be worth it. Might as well put the ball on the 20. In Denver they were kicking it through the uprights.

The Marino’s needed to pay attention to the injury report for Foster, but it didn’t hurt them in the end.

Robert Mecham is the leader for the diamond in the first cut (best player taken in the last round of the draft) with 9.5 points (earned for the Marino’s bench).

I figure the diamond in the rough will be the highest scoring free agent, if I can figure that out easy enough later on.

First DST taken in the draft, the Steelers (autopicked for the Outlaws), scored a whopping -7 points.

The Falcon’s DST scored more points (7) being whipped by the Bears than the Patriots DST did in whipping the Dolphins (0) (both owned by the Devils).

No bench outscored their starters, but in the Toilet Bowl both the Boner’s and Outlaw’s bench scored 1 point less than the starters.

I'm considering a Power Rankings section. Sure, sportsline has one, but it doesn't have enough 'gut' or 'heart' in their tabulations.
tl;dr

m0nty sucks, everyone try to beat m0nty.

So much for the RBs being the strength of my team.  When did Jamaal Charles become such a pussy?

I do need more RBs honestly. I have Henderson (looks to be a damn WR with injuries on the Saints), Antonio Brown and Stevie "I blame God and still kick ass" Johnsen up for trade for a decent to good RB. Any offers?

And I'm actually the opposite of Matt. I have a load of decent receivers and need to shore up at RB, so if anybody has a decent player they want to trade, I'm game. Here are my receivers:

Andre Johnson
Mike Wallace
Kenny Britt
Dez Bryant
Percy Harvin
Nate Burleson
Julio Jones
AJ Green
Jacoby Ford

I don't think anyone is long on RBs. You figure teams are running two at most, though most of them have one feature back, whereas there are more receivers because of the 3,4 or 5 wide sets.

We wanted a specific breed, so it wasn't a matter of going down to the local shelter and picking one out. We even went so far as to want a specific color, so that restricted us further. We found a breed rescue group that has dogs foster all over the country, some even in NJ, but for this color they only had one in TX, so that's where we went.

The PCFFL Coach's Armchair Week 1

The name of the game in the NFL so far this year is offense, offense, offense. This was reflected in the PCFFL where we saw 3 teams break the 100 point mark, and another two in the 90s. It wasn’t all high powered points scoring as we had another Toilet Bowl with the eventual lowest scoring teams of the week squaring off.

Weekly Recap

NJ vs. ATX -- The Devils exploded for 111.5 points off the backs of Vincent Jackson (26.5) and Brees (23). Throw in two other players at 18 points (Fitzgrerald and McFadden) and that was more than enough for the lethargic Blaha’s 62.5 points. They weren’t helped by Vick leaving the game, nor another 400 yard performance from Cam Newton riding the bench. It wouldn’t have mattered though, as there were not enough points left on the bench to beat the Devils even if the Blahas could re-arraign their lineup ex-post facto.

SF vs BC -- The second most surprising player this year so far has to be the Bills Ryan Fitzpatrick. He led the CGI Robots bench in scoring, again, with 22 points as the Robots dropped a close one to the BC Roughriders. It is going to be a rough year for the Roughriders as they lost Jamal Charles for the year meaning they lost their top two draft picks for the year. The waiver wire isn’t going to help that much. The Jets DST led the Roughriders with 18 points while the CGI Robot got a top 16.5 from Schaub.

DETH vs. BOS -- BOS was the Armchair’s pick to lead the league in wins and win the PCFFL Bowl only to stumble in the first week to the much loved Devils, but they rebounded to the predicted form in scoring the league high 139 points this week. Miles Austin led the Leet Doodz with 31 points. Cadillac Williams was the only dud in the line up (1.5) which saw everyone else score in the double digits, save Green-Ellis that got 9.5. The rookie Arkansas TDs stepped it up by picking up the most surprising player in the league this yea, Rex Grossman, off the waiver wire. His 13.5 point total isn’t very impressive, until you look at the TD’s other QB Josh Freeman scored a whopping 9 points. The TD’s would have beaten 9 other teams in the league with their 101.5 points, but had the misfortune of running into a buzzsaw.

ARI vs. UTA -- The Teen Brides got 34 points from Brady and another 19 from Michael Tuner to lead the way over the Outlaws 85 - 71.5. I’m not sure how the Outlaws totaled 71 points as only Aaron Rodges (24.5) and the Steelers DST (15) scored in the double digits and they got a whopping 2 points from ther WR and TE set. I suspect black magic is at play. The Outlaws bench didn’t score any points either so they can’t expect much relief there. It has the makings of a long season for the Outlaws.

PIT vs. POU -- Two weeks of unprecedented scoring in the NFL and yet the PCFFL has seen two Toilet Bowls in as many weeks. This time it is the Marino’s lucking out in facing the Big Ben Boners as the only team in the league they could have beaten. At least the combined score from this Toilet Bowl would have broken triple digits (115 vs. 97.5 last week). The Boners were led by Dustin Kellers 17 points (trailed closely by P. Hillis’ 16.5). Outside of the top 3 not a single Boner scored more than 5 points with 4 scoring 4 points or less. The Marinos rode Matt Stafford’s 27.5 points to almost half their 61 point total. Only one other player scored in double digits, Steve Johnson, with a paltry 10.5, but it was ust enough against the flaccid Boners.

AUS vs. VAN -- The Vancouver Rough Rider held on in a close one with the not-a-Redbeards winning by a scant 3.5 points, 94-90.5. The Rough Riders got 24.5 point performances from Romo and Fred Jackson. The not-a-Redbeards got 26.5 points from Jeremey Maclin in the flex spot. The not-a-Redbeards were sunk by the Buffalo Bills DST’s -6 points while a 12 point effort from the Saints sat on the bench. The Rough Riders played most every card they had and left only 10 points on the bench.

Coach of the Week

The Boston Leet Doodz stepped it up to show us the type of team this column though they would be. They set the high mark of the week and for the short year so far. If they can keep this up it will be a fun season for them, but murder on the rest of the league.

Kotite of the Week

The Big Ben Boners continue to suffer from their poor draft day. They have not scored 100 points for the whole year yet, a woeful start. It will be long season in Pittsburgh.

A Look Ahead

Week 3, what can I say. Expect the Boners to lose to the Teen Brides, the BC Roughriders fall to the not-a-Redbeards and the super awesome Devils pick up another W against the rookie TDs.

General Shit

Arian Foster and Chris Johnson have scored a combined 6.5 points.

6 first round draft picks have outscore #1 pick AP with autopicked Tom Brady the leader of the round with 75 points.

Tony Romo played with a punctured lung and two broken ribs. If I get a canker sore I get moody for a week.

My dog is acting weird, so this is all the general shit that I can muster now.

tl;dr

Boston Rolls, m0nty droolz. Or something.
