GTA:IV-ever
April 28th 2008, 21:28 CEST by CheesyPoof Talk, play, bitch, whatever. The game is getting A+'s and 10/10 all over the place, including the tight wads at EuroGamer. We must also strike while the iron is hot to organize any PC play sessions, 360 only, sorry Bob. And doubly sorry to PC only gamers (sorry Dum). |

I have GTA IV preordered and paid for. I fully expect to kill some 'Crappers online this week! |
|
I'd kill you, but you are too far away. "Action stars of two decades ago shot .44 bullets out of their cocks. Honestly, if me and Charles Bronson were in the same room I'd kill myself just to make sure he didn't hurt me."
|
|
eh, it looks pretty good, I'm sure I'll get it....someday. but I've never been a huge fan of the GTA games. Crackdown was more my speed. "Testiculos habet et bene pendentes" - "He has testicles, and they dangle nicely."

I'm just glad I'll finally have another this-gen sandbox game. Ever since I sold my 360 I've had to do without. I miss physics. :( "I don't like story in games." - Soren Johnson

If only you could've kept your 360 and continued to play great games with crappers. Oh well, no use crying over things that can't be changed. Witnesses in the house heard Jones say "why did you pee on me Pooh Bear?" A few moments later, the witness heard the son say "Mama you done stabbed me."
|

I managed to bribe someone to get my 360 copy early last thursday (Beer and a Parma!). I've been playing it off and on since then. I skipped vice city and San Andreas, although I watched housemates play through most of them. Played a heap of GTA3. So far I'm really enjoying the game. What I have seen of the city (still on the first island) seems really solid. There's rubbish bins and such on the side of the road, an appropriate amount of people and cars and I haven't noticed much repetition in the buildings or textures on the buildings. The city looks very detailed and "dense" so far, more so when walking rather than zipping by in a car. The driving feels exactly as I remember GTA3 feeling; kind of floaty at the start, then you get used to it and fly around. I'm playing the censored AU version. Not sure what they have taken out really, there's a huge amount of swearing and a whole heap of violence. I really dig the way you can turn off the story progression at any time and just run around exploring. |
|
What do you mean "turn off the story progression"? "I don't like story in games." - Soren Johnson

#46 by BobJustBob What do you mean "turn off the story progression"? One of the main ways story gets pushed at you is through your mobile phone. You can put your mobile into "sleep" mode, effectively halting the story progress. |
|
That. Is. Awesome. My favorite part of GTA has always been finding the packages and stuff without a guide. My wife likes the missions so, save a few where they were too hard (I'm looking at you, Zero), I get to just do what I like. |
|
Are people waiting for the PC version because we're assuming eventually there will be one, or has it been announced? |
|
I too shall have GTA this week. With any luck I can complete Crisis Core by then. Funk. |
|
haha, PC |
|
The only people who will wait for the PC version are pirates and PC zealots. Witnesses in the house heard Jones say "why did you pee on me Pooh Bear?" A few moments later, the witness heard the son say "Mama you done stabbed me."

PC gaming is deader than Abe Vigoda. |

I'm holding out for the PC version, which they definitely are making because it's either that or I'm packing a sniper rifle and taking a trip to Edinburgh. MP3 Of The Week: Too many projects!

#12 by Dumdeedum Count me out. GTA:SA sucked balls, and I haven't really seen anything all that great about gta4. You need to watch the Gametrailers review then. Me buying it the picosecond it arrives on the PC is pretty much a given, but seeing it in action there has really got me jonesing for it. Droolworthy stuff. Meh. |
|
I will buy GTA 4 this week too. But I have never, ever beaten a GTA game and I've bought them all. The missions become so freaking hard I end up just driving around kicking up dirt. |

Had a conversation with a Scientologist today. It was so illogical that I just listened. Man, human nature is so strange...we'll believe anything. Anything. As long as it promises a profit at an incredible expense. |

Great. Now everyone's chillin' in the lounge playing GTAIV. "Gaggle doesn't believe anyone should bother gaining skill in anything because anyone could gain skill in anything if they just put the time to it." - BjB

Dumdeedum (#54): I'm holding out for the PC version, which they definitely are making because it's either that or I'm packing a sniper rifle and taking a trip to Edinburgh. I'll carry your ammo crate. For some reason I thought you were FROM Edinburgh. Dingle (#57): Had a conversation with a Scientologist today. It was so illogical that I just listened. Man, human nature is so strange...we'll believe anything. Anything. As long as it promises a profit at an incredible expense. Were you wearing a Guy Fawkes mask at the time? |

It'll be, like, a year. The game won't be impressive-looking anymore. You will feel oddly unsatisfied. You will regret your current way of life. "Gaggle doesn't believe anyone should bother gaining skill in anything because anyone could gain skill in anything if they just put the time to it." - BjB

gaggle (#60): You will feel oddly unsatisfied. You will regret your current way of life. That's cool. I can't speak for Dum, but I've got plenty of practice in that department. |

Man, human nature is so strange Oh, the irony... "Action stars of two decades ago shot .44 bullets out of their cocks. Honestly, if me and Charles Bronson were in the same room I'd kill myself just to make sure he didn't hurt me."

I haven't played GTAIV yet but it's here and it looks pretty fun. |
|
Are people waiting for the PC version because we're assuming eventually there will be one, or has it been announced? no and I think, no. "Testiculos habet et bene pendentes" - "He has testicles, and they dangle nicely."
|

There, played it. From what I've seen so far it's quite literally GTAIV: The sequel to GTAIII. That's not meant as a criticism as such. "Gaggle doesn't believe anyone should bother gaining skill in anything because anyone could gain skill in anything if they just put the time to it." - BjB

I've never really found the difficulty to be that bad. I'm by no means a hardcore gamer anymore either. |
|
Just picked up my copy at Target. As predicted, they had a big pile of them, supplemented with drawers full of them. Pre-ordering is retarded anymore. Lady, people aren't chocolates. But you know what they are, mostly? Bastards. Bastard-coated bastards with bastard filling.

After seeing it was Available Now on gamefly, I added it to my list. I'll be playing this or assassin's creed by Friday. Unless they send me Bee Movie or some shit. |
|
You're retarded. <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.

No, you're a towel. Lady, people aren't chocolates. But you know what they are, mostly? Bastards. Bastard-coated bastards with bastard filling.

According to the tracking #, my copy should be here today. If only this wasn't magical deadline week. This weekend I leave for San Francisco, too, so I'll be lucky to play it at all. |
|
I got my copy at K-Mart a few minutes ago. No lines or anything. Pre-ordering is pointless, at least in a big city like Boston with so many places to get games. "Bioshock, sadly, is no Painkiller." - BobJustBob

Earlier I saw some photos of tons of people waiting in line for the midnight launch. I guess I just don't get it*. Lay down, close eyes, wake up, drive to store, grab game instantly, leave. Christmas morning is fun and all, but I'm not five anymore. *Yes, I stood in line for the Wii, but I still have yet to see one of those physically sitting on a store shelf. That video review convinced me. I'll buy it today. I'm now of the opinion all reviews should be in video form only. "the concept that a happy worker is a productive worker is hardly an entry from Matt's Big Book Of Things The Fairies Said." - Dum

gaggle (#76): Wish granted. In shape of: amateur bloggers. Oh, my bad. Let me restate. All reviews should be in video form and not be done by idiots. Better? "the concept that a happy worker is a productive worker is hardly an entry from Matt's Big Book Of Things The Fairies Said." - Dum

I'm still laughing about an earlier video I was linked to as a "preview". The player walked clumsily around on a bridge, got into a car, drove a few feet, jumped out, slowly walked back to the car, then drove it off the edge of the bridge into the water. Can't wait to play it, honestly. Let me know if you guys wind up setting aside some scheduled matches online. Lady, people aren't chocolates. But you know what they are, mostly? Bastards. I walked into K-Mart on Sunday morning and bought a Wii. It wasn't physically on a shelf, but it was the first time I've seen one physically in a store for sale. And I didn't have to wait in line for it, outside of having to wait for a customer to finish their transaction. |^^^^^^^^^^^^ |||__

Woo! I have my copy! Boo! I am in the office! Pre-ordering is pointless, at least in a big city like Boston with so many places to get games. Not when you trade in your entire PS2 collection and get an extra 20% on the trade in value for pre-ordering GTA IV, which nets you GTA IV, Patapon and still have $3.42 left over. Christmas morning is fun and all, but I'm not five anymore. Oh, you will be. You will be. And we're all going to hear about it. <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.

|
It's pretty awesome that all Hugin's talk of, "I'll get GTA when it's in a setting I like, like a Sci-Fi one in the ME universe" that the video review broke him down and he got it. Woo! <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.

Yes, I caved. It should be noted that I stated I wasn't going to buy Halo 3 and that held up. Also I'm already stuck in GTA 4 and annoyed with the game. "Bioshock, sadly, is no Painkiller." - BobJustBob
