Santa Claus is Coming to Town!
November 29th 2007, 21:11 CET by Chunkstyle

And he wants you to wear his hat.  It's the happiest/suicidiest time of year again, so what are you asking for / buying others / killing yourself with?   What are your favorite / most hated Christmas songs?  Or which minor alternative holidays will you be observig instead?

I tried to change my avatar's Santa hat into a bizarro hat (swap red and white) but it looked awful, so I'll stick with this.

We went to a class at Artisanal (they held at their cheese center, not the restaurant) and it was pretty good. I have one book by the Maître Fromager Max McCalman and wouldn't mind to see him in person. As for cheese classes (it says wine class, but it's really about the cheese) around here, I dunno. There are some good cheese stores I found, but I don't know that they do a thing on wine and cheese pairings.

Fuck, I missed that typo. It's supposed to be 7, that'll send everyone on a wild goose chase if they want to get it.

I've said this before and I'll say it again:  I'd find Raph Koster's theories about game design more interesting if he'd ever actually made a game I liked.

You know, that's exactly why I don't like Raph's theories about game design... I can't point to one game that he successfully designed...

I'm not saying he's wrong on his stuff or that he isn't experienced, but the grandfather of MMO design persona he's kinda taken on as of late annoys me due to his actual history with MMOs.

I already bought myself everything I actually want*; the list is just the runners-up.

*Except for the Futurama movie and The Wire season 4 -- those come next week.

I don't really have a Christmas wish list. As an adult I've just bought things I've wanted, so Christmas is mostly a surprise. And a lot of socks.

I thought Futurama came out this week, on the 27th? I'm still on the fence as to whether I'm going to buy it. On the one hand, I have the complete series on DVD up to this point so keeping the collection complete would be good. On the other hand, I've really only watched them once anyway, so why not rent?

I don't really have a wish list for the same reason as Gabe, but I'll need to come up with one to avoid getting socks.  But we also usually have a $50 or $100 cap, and this year the girlfriend and I will forgo gifts entirely because we're already paying for a train trip back from Edmonton.

Futurama came out this week, but I'm not planning on ordering it until next week. I'm not really sure why, since I've got Amazon Prime. It's too late now, anyway.

I watch Futurama all the time. I ripped every episode to an external hard drive and set up a random playlist. Now I always have something to watch! I was going to add in some other shows like Sealab and Arrested Development but, fuck, ripping and re-encoding that stuff is such a pain in the ass.

My brother and both my sisters buy a gift, plus my parents, grandfather, grandmother, great aunt, and aunt, so I need the list to avoid a lot of random crap.

I good at waiting to buy stuff, and I don't mind waiting during the holidays so that I can get good Christmas gifts. If there's something that I really want and don't get, I'll buy it afterwards.

No hat for me right now (there's a baby laying on me, so Photoshop is difficult). I already got what I want for Christmas. The 360 came early, then Max, then new Futurama, then my wife went up to an F cup. Merry Christmas to me.

I see my plan to keep my hat all year worked perfectly. So perfectly that I forgot I did it.

I'll append to that, since I'm correcting. She also already lost all the baby weight and then some. Unfortunately, things will have to wait for a few weeks, but as I said...Christmas. Woo.
