Boo. Rosters should be locked for the whole weekend after the start of the first game. I watched Aliens, and I didn't even get a lousy t-shirt.
Interesting. |
I don't care, as long as players are locked once their team plays even if they were out for the game. |
Quick scoring offenses coupled with a defense that has trouble against the run won't turn into a lot of victories, actually. It can! |
Yeah, the Colts are the perfect example of how it can. |
lol |
Boo. Rosters should be locked for the whole weekend after the start of the first game. So if someone got hurt in a Friday practice for a Sunday game, you don't mind being locked from changing him out? Really? I don't care, as long as players are locked once their team plays even if they were out for the game. Yep, that's still the case. |
Trunks- That's how most of the other leagues I've seen ran it. I personally really don't care, but I think it's a better way to do it because it forces players to be active in running their teams. That way, m0nty doesn't gay up the system by reminding people to check on their specific players because the game is starting in 5 minutes when they've been inactive all week. I watched Aliens, and I didn't even get a lousy t-shirt.
I think the reason most other leagues ran it that way was because the site their hosted on didn't modify their website software to handle that situation...regular Thursday games are just recently becoming a "standard" thing later in the season after all. I would expect similar changes at other websites. We still have the option for locking rosters completely after the first game of the week has started if people bitch enough about it. |

Trunksy- It's all good. I'm the only one that seems to care, and I really don't, so keep it that way. I watched Aliens, and I didn't even get a lousy t-shirt.

That nascar video is funny as hell. My intelligence, then, is not absolute but is a function of the society I live in

Also good is the one about outsourcing daycare to India. |

Also, Multiple Stab Wounds May Be Harmful to monkey. That's pretty good shit. My intelligence, then, is not absolute but is a function of the society I live in

Brutal wipeout at the X-Games. |

Needs a voiceover of cheesy screaming. |

I love how his shoes fly off. How far do you think he fell? I watched Aliens, and I didn't even get a lousy t-shirt.

yotsuya (#71): I love how his shoes fly off. How far do you think he fell? I heard on the radio (so make of it what you will), 50 feet. My intelligence, then, is not absolute but is a function of the society I live in

I guess it's okay to make fun of it since he's alright. I think my favorite part is the height meter behind him that shows just how far his flailing body made it off the ramp before plummeting. Lady, people aren't chocolates. But you know what they are, mostly? Bastards. Bastard-coated bastards with bastard filling.

Also, holy shit that must have been scary and painful. Lady, people aren't chocolates. But you know what they are, mostly? Bastards. Bastard-coated bastards with bastard filling.

That's pretty amazing he could walk away. |

That he didn't out right die is amazing. My intelligence, then, is not absolute but is a function of the society I live in

I was surprised he is alive without major injury. Amazing. |
I was surprised the X-Sports still exist. And are still televised. "Games are not novels, and the ways in which they harbor novelistic aspirations are invariably the least interesting thing about them." - Steven Johnson
I'm surprised Bob's still surprised about anything. I can't help being angry when I'm furious!

So are my pants. |
#81 by bishop So are my pants. Those aren't your pants. Bastard. |
I was surprised the X-Sports still exist. And are still televised. So was I. However, the best part was after he hit the ground and the main announcer freaked out, someone (the guy on Sportscenter said it was Tony Hawk) said "I can't believe he landed a 720". |
I'm amazed people are expected to die even when they fall on their feet. If cats can do it... 2005 TOTY 10000 badge winner and proud carrier.

I'd expect a 150lb cat to get pretty hurt no matter what part of its body it landed on. |
#84 by Anonymous I'm amazed people are expected to die even when they fall on their feet. If cats can do it... I have jumped from twelve feet and landed on my feet in grass, I've jumped from 50 feet and landed on my feet in water. I don't care to do anything like that ever, ever, again. So it's very easy for me to cringe whenever someone's in a fall like that, anon. I don't expect them to die, but wouldn't be surprised at a broken bone or two. |
Yeah, I've jumped from over 20 feet, landed on my feet and been fine. Jumping from 50 feet is crazy talk. My intelligence, then, is not absolute but is a function of the society I live in
"I'm not sure it's possible to make a "subtle" jab at Matt's writing ability." - Ergo |
Come on, you know I wasn't serious. Even though he walked away from it, his body will have a very lasting memory of that impact, I'm sure. Can we at least say that he left a strong impression? I'm not sure, the video was a little blurry. I'm soooo funny today! 2005 TOTY 10000 badge winner and proud carrier.

What I love about the video is that at the apex of his ascent, everyone in that arena, including him, knew what was going to happen and was waiting for the impact. To quote Oscar Wilde/Willy Wonka: "The suspense is terrible... I hope it'll last." I watched Aliens, and I didn't even get a lousy t-shirt.

#87 by Matt Perkins Yeah, I've jumped from over 20 feet, landed on my feet and been fine. Jumping from 50 feet is crazy talk. When I was a kid there was this contraption someone had built over the river, with several floors. The highest one was just under / around five stories up. The kind of silly thing you do once, just for the hell of it, so that you can go, years later, "Yeah, I did that." Although these days you could just be like everyone else on the internet and make shit up, but that's not nearly as fun. |
I jumped from about five feet once and broke my foot in half. Go figure. Current novel word count: 26,800 words (I'm hoping by putting it here it helps motivate me)
I went cliff jumping once. Dunno how high it was, maybe four or five stories, but it was high enough you had to wear shoes. |
Caryn (#91): I jumped from about five feet once and broke my foot in half. Go figure. Crosswise or lengthwise? |
Crosswise. Broke the three biggest metatarsals in half when I landed in a muddy patch of grass and my foot slipped backwards. Current novel word count: 26,800 words (I'm hoping by putting it here it helps motivate me)
Ow. Game Developers: Don't forget the zombie monkeys.
For some reason I'm thinking of Caryn being strapped to a bed and Kathy Bates standing over her with a mallet. |
OK, so m0nty's a sick, sick individual - what else is new in the sports thread? I can't help being angry when I'm furious!
I don't think that's new... My intelligence, then, is not absolute but is a function of the society I live in

Yeesh, the Colts are running low on defensive tackles. |
Bah, you don't need DTs! Simon down is a big problem I'm thinking... My intelligence, then, is not absolute but is a function of the society I live in

He played some last year, no? Did they cut Simon this year or is he injured again? And with Booger down, that's pretty much nothing on the front line...sadly enough. My intelligence, then, is not absolute but is a function of the society I live in

Simon didn't play last year. Released last week. |
So...756 and all that. |
