Complete and utter bullshit. My soul aches that people give this crap even an iota of credibility.

You never see animals going through the absurd and often horrible fooleries of magic and religions. Only man behaves with such gratuitous folly. It is the price he has to pay for being intelligent but not, as yet, intelligent enough. --Aldous Huxley

I leave PC several times a day. It might stick if it weren't one of the few message boards they didn't block at work.

Some really interesting cell phone news:

Here’s the basic idea. If you’re willing to pay $10 a month on top of a regular T-Mobile voice plan, you get a special cellphone. When you’re out and about, it works like any other phone; calls eat up your monthly minutes as usual.

But when it’s in a Wi-Fi wireless Internet hot spot, this phone offers a huge bargain: all your calls are free. You use it and dial it the same as always — you still get call hold, caller ID, three-way calling and all the other features — but now your voice is carried by the Internet rather than the cellular airwaves.

From the description in that article I don't know I'd use it now (specific cell phone required, doesn't work at login required hot spots, etc), but it sounds really interesting. Especially if it catches on. It'll mean more hotspots and maybe support by phones, etc.

My intelligence, then, is not absolute but is a function of the society I live in

G-Man (#73):

Google is my friend, but he doesn't argue well for a specific service and the merits of that service. At least not unless I tell him ask other people about their reviews.

I was kinda hoping someone here had a service in mind, etc. You guys may not know as much as Google, but you're infinitely more fun to talk to.

I generally find the easy modes more fun because, well... they're easier and you don't run into the limitations of holding a PS/2 keyboard instead of a guitar controller as often as on medium.

Oh, I only play the stock songs on medium - all the GH songs feature the dreaded pink frat on medium and above, trying to use which I've given up on pretty quickly.

I could see it as a great way to ditch the land line.  Right now I have Primus VoIP for the unlimited long distance.  If I could get the same thing on my cellphone just by being home (or anywhere else with wireless) I wouldn't need the two phone numbers.

I'm glad MS is extending their 360 warranty of the three rings of death to 3 years (1 year per ring), but I hope they fixed the root cause in new consoles so I won't have any trepidation when I get mine.

That's kind of at the crux of my "first" console (the Wii being my "second" console, despite actually getting it first) debate. Which ever comes first, the 360 getting a new, and presumably more reliable, design or the PS3 getting a critical mass of games I want to play, is probably going to be the one I buy. Of course, price drops wouldn't hurt either.

Maybe you Euros get a faggy version of the controller? I'm looking at my PS2 GH and xbox360 GH controllers and they are both very orange.

I'm sorry but that just looks retarded. Not to mention all of the problems involved in different keyboard layouts. What if you have one of those crazy split ergonomical keyboards that weigh like ten tons for no good reason, what then?

He does have a point, you really need a good keyboard to get any sort of enjoyment out of it. I've been looking for a replacement for my crappy logitech ps/2 OEM keyboard (which is perfect layout wise) but most 'multimedia keyboards' out there are bloated crap.

But if you do have a keyboard that's a good fit, it's an amazingly fun game.

yet your 'phone' is just an ipaq. The only real advantage windows mobile has is that it's not the PalmOS.

I've used the iPhone interface. Microsoft ought to be red faced and embarrassed for not having come upwith it by now.

All touch screen interfaces suck. ALL OF THEM. They get out of sync, they lag, they are slow. About the best is windows mobile, because even the tablet PCs have lag and sync issues.  The iPhone completely does away with that. In fact, you are looking that the future interface option on iMacs and Macbooks. It's just smoother, slicker, and the true reason to feel nothing but love for an iPhone, even if it's not great as a phone and costs too damn much.

But you are too much of an elitist dumbass to realize that those first time buyers you make fun of are paving the way for the new and cool for your next phone. You honestly don't really understand technology near as much as you think you do.

I'd take the cingular service over the ATT service anyday, at least around here.

And 3g is light years beyond the iPhone crap. I really can't believe they shipped without it.

On a different note, Warren...are you trolling on qt3 re: the three year extended warranty? I don't want to bother laying into if you're just fucking around... comments like this make me believe you can't possibly be serious:
I'm disgusted with the whole situation. It shouldn't even exist. I don't feel that I should be happy and grateful now that they've finally agreed to step up and start fixing defective consoles for free.

While I agree with much of your complaints about touch screen technology up to this point, I can't agree with the idea early adopters should be applauded. You adopt if the product is good, not so that future generations of the product can be good. That's a really horribly justification.

If you have the PS2 (or 360?) guitar, and a USB adapter you can use the guitar with Frets on Fire. Yeah, in case it wasn't clear Frets on Fire has a pink fret while guitar hero has a orange one. It's so FoF can be a "different" game then Guitar Hero.

I however, am bad at both (though I don't do the keytar thing for frets on fire, I remapped it to the home row). My pinky seems to activate other fingers involuntarily and I occasionally mix up my middle and ring fingers, especially if I have to shift position.
