He's doing a documentary on Katrina as a four-part HBO special. I'm guessing that doesn't really qualify as a "movie".

Yeah, I am not at all convinced of Prison Break's ability to remain good into this season. But I don't like your Seinfeld example; that show went out on a high note without ever having to suffer the indignities of age.

I watched it until the end, but I didn't think the last two seasons were even close to the earlier seasons.

9/11? It's about Hurricane Katrina, is it not? It does explore some of the conspiracy theories surrounding that particular disaster though, I'll grant you that.

It's Hurricane Katrina, and I think it's a documentary.  I loved Inside Man.  I wouldn't have known it was a Spike Lee movie if the ads didn't tell me though.  Very different than most of his stuff.

If he's doing a four-part HBO special, is the whole thing a joint or is each part a joint?  Or is it not a joint at all, because it's on TV?

I am not part of the solution.

Rotten Tomatoes is usually pretty spot on too... in this case (Inside Man), it was about 20% too high. And I'd marry Mr. Washington.

Bob my statements comparing Lost and Prison Break were by no means trying to less your enjoyment, just expressing where my dissatisfaction comes in. And we all know I'm pretty picky about movies/tv shows.

I stand behind my comments, but they come from my, "you have to setup and earn your outlandish plot points" attitude.

Really?  I don't think it's the best movie ever, but other than Jodie Foster it was great.

Don't be dense, Bob. Lost's very premise establishes that serendipitous events are a part of the show's overall fantasy setting and meaning (should it trasnpire that it has one).

I'm not being dense, as far as I'm concerned Lost is the pretty much the same type of show as Prison Break, a group of people who have to overcome farfetched problems with farfetched solutions. The only difference is that Lost is more like the X-files and Prison Break is more like the A-team. If you consider that a difference to call the shows different fine. I don't.

This will not be the end of it.

There are no solutions or problems in Lost. Lost is about seeing what's underneath the tarp.

Well what doesn't though.

I couldn't figure out how to enable googleads. I signed up and received a bunch of text, skipped the whole thing and faced some questions I didn't know how to answer. Though of course if I come across some feline helmet production plans I'll be sure to install the ads before linking anything anywhere.

Absolutely. Lost is an almost completely character-driven show. Plot is quite a bit further down, below set design, special effects, and catering.

I signed up for Googleads a while ago.  I can't get the damn things to work.  Everytime I sign in it says I haven't signed up yet.  When I try to sign up again it says I'm already signed up.  Screw you Google.

So, I brought up The Descent a bit ago and said I didn't like the ending much and then I was informed it wasn't the original ending and then I cursed hollywood for making the ending silly...

Apparently the director decided to make that choice on his own. I heard an interview on NPR this morning with the director and he said he felt no studio pressure to change it, he just wanted to give it a go with different ending and see how it played out. That I can understand more and it makes me happier... I thought I'd share.

Speaking of movies, I watched Syrianna last week. I like it. Certainly paints our foreign policy (or at least what people think of it) in a bad light, but I figure Iraq would be enough of that.

Spoilers?

Yes, no doubt of that, but I think deeper than the obvious outside. In the movie they portray the US as keeping a royal family in power that suppresses its people to keep the oil flowing, while the one son would be progressive, but since that means diversify their economy the US doesn't like that so they kill him instead of having a progressive state in the Middle East. You can say, "duh, Saudi Arabia fool!", but I don't think that Saudi Arabia would be a progressive state if the royal family was overthrown.
