Kameo. PC gaming is dead, but you can still sodomize the corpse.
|

If you care about online play, go for Xbox. If you play a lot of multiplatform titles, go for Xbox. Else go for Gamecube. PC gaming is dead, but you can still sodomize the corpse.

Live! is great, if you're into that sort of thing. If you're a nintendo fan boi...well, I guess you wouldn't be asking. Otherwise, I'd probably go Xbox if I had to only buy one. Sadly, I'm going to have to agree with the hippie. I'm pretty sure I'll get an Xbox 360 at some point, but the launch titles are pretty unremarkable, so I'll let the hardcore early adopters deal with the first revision hardware and high introductory price and I'll buy one in 6 months or so after release. I'll buy the Revolution ASAP because Nintendo consoles always have must-play titles, since Nintendo themselves are the greatest videogaming company of all time. I may or may not ever buy the PS3, it really depends on if there are enough must-play games for it and if the price is really as ridiculous as some people have predicted based on the cost of putting blu-ray drives in them. I'd rather have Super Monkey Ball 3 on the Gamecube (or Xbox) than Super Monkey Ball on the DS, but whatever. I'll take what I can get. Between We <3 Katamari, Ultimate Spiderman and Burnout Revenge this should be a pretty good month for games. Unless you're one of those anti-console gamers... in which case, have fun playing through Half-Life 2 again. Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers, and me. |
|
I chose the Gamecube over the Xbox. Mostly for Metroid and Zelda and I'm quite happy with my choice. I figured if anything really good came out on Xbox it'd likely be ported to the PS2 or PC while great Gamecube games would likely stay exclusive. There still isn't much on Xbox that interests me enough to buy it. I SAID PURPLE, BITCH!
|
|
The XBox is the only current console I don't own, but I don't give a rat's ass about online play. In fact, I actively despise it. Without me, Internet would never have had sex with the DS. -m0nty

I know Kameo has been in development for a while (I had an old demo disc that had a preview movie for it, back when it was going to be an Xbox 1 game) but man some of those screenshots on the linked page look amazingly WoW/Night Elfish. Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers, and me. |
|
I chose the Gamecube over the Xbox. The current consoles only cost about as much (for the hardware) as two games. There are many good to great Xbox games on sale for $20 these days. I don't really understand the concept of choosing one system over the other this late into a console generation... unless you're poor like Kenny's family. Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers, and me. |
|
YF has a point. You should buy both a GC and an Xbox and then buy my entire game collection, then you'll be set. PC gaming is dead, but you can still sodomize the corpse.
|
|
I didn't choose this late, I chose it a long time ago. I still don't see any compelling reason to buy an Xbox to this very day though. I don't care to play console games online (I have my PC for that) so what would I use it for? I SAID PURPLE, BITCH!
|
|
I don't really see a reason to buy an XBox when there are still good games for the systems I own to play. I didn't buy a PS2 till I ran out of GC games. I don't have enough shelf space or A/V ports for three consoles. Without me, Internet would never have had sex with the DS. -m0nty

To play awesome console games like Crimson Skies on LAN. Also, to play the best available versions of the GTA3 games and other multiplatform games like Burnout. Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,

What LAN? Without me, Internet would never have had sex with the DS. -m0nty

With all my friends who don't own XBoxes? Hell, I've never even had enough people over for a four player game on GC. Without me, Internet would never have had sex with the DS. -m0nty

Shadarr's reason is the same as mine. I don't have enough shelf space or A/V ports for three consoles. It is a space issue. And I don't have enough time to explore the libraries of both consoles. Funk. I lie awake

#72 Your Friend The Xbox LAN you put together to play awesome console games like Crimson Skies on LAN. Considering that none of my other friends own game consoles, this will prove to be difficult. You have a rich wife, just buy 4 Xboxes and 4 TVs and a network hub. Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,

You have a rich wife, just buy 4 Xboxes and 4 TVs and a network hub. Throw in 4 copies of Forza, and you can play the game the way it's meant to! |

I was in a similar situation previously except I didn't actually own the PS2, my roommate did, so I got to play most of the games I cared about on it before I moved out. I ended up getting the xbox for a few reasons: 1) My brother was getting a gamecube. 2a) Mod chip ability. Just in general there's more things to tinker with on a xbox. 2b) As a result, it's the best emulator platform. 3) Multiplatform games seem to end up on the xbox, eventually. There seems to be more PS2/Xbox only games then PS2/Gamecube games, especially sports games, and they tended to come out looking better on the xbox. That said, the gamecube exclusives are miles better, and if I didn't have the opportunity to play them elsewhere I'd think long and hard about the Gamecube instead. |

#77 Squeaky You have a rich wife, just buy 4 Xboxes and 4 TVs and a network hub. Throw in 4 copies of Forza, and you can play the game the way it's meant to! A racing game? When hell freezes over. Shadarr Yeah, classic stuff. Yell at your customers - good choice! |

I emplore everyone to use their site to search for legos. I just did. こんにちは
|
|
Haha, done. |
|
My favourite part is "By doing so, you will be helping to protect and preserve a brand...." Because protecting a brand is one of the things I care deeply about. Of course, right now at work I'm going through tests to make sure that everywhere it used to say "PureEdge Viewer" or something similar, it now says exactly "IBM® Workplace Forms™ Viewer". So maybe I'm just a little bitter. Without me, Internet would never have had sex with the DS. -m0nty

A racing game? When hell freezes over. I was actually referring to the hidden feature in Forza where you could link multiple xboxes and multiple tvs to create on wraparound image. |

Don't bother, Ergo is horribly broken. |

Yes, because racing high-performance European cars is the epitomy of redneckness. |

I told you, he is too broken. |

#92 Squeaky Yes, because racing high-performance European cars is the epitomy of redneckness. Racing in and of itself is the pinnacle of exciting. Nothing beats going around and around and around a track. At high speed. Yeehaw. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.

Going fast isn't fun anymore? PC gaming is dead, but you can still sodomize the corpse.

Ergo, I have to admit you're being a little obtuse. Most racing games AREN'T Nascar turn fests. |
|
They do all have shitty, shitty rubberband AI though. Run a totally flawless race for five laps, then graze a barrier on the final turn and you finish in fifth place. I just love that! Without me, Internet would never have had sex with the DS. -m0nty

#96 Penguinx Ergo, I have to admit you're being a little obtuse. Most racing games AREN'T Nascar turn fests. See what Shaddar said. I find racing games to be insufferably awful. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.

That's my wife's biggest gripe with Mario Kart. As a mostly non-gamer she didn't know that was the defacto AI for racers. |
|
I'm not huge into racers either, but to say all there is to do is go around in a circle seemed a bit unfair to the genre. |

#100 Penguinx I'm not huge into racers either, but to say all there is to do is go around in a circle seemed a bit unfair to the genre. Maybe so, but that's how I see them. I may give Burnout 3 a try, though. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.

I didn't notice it as much in MarioKart, but when I was playing WaveRace a couple months ago it really pissed me off. Turbo boosts were basically only worth using if I was behind. Once I was in first, I was better off saving them in case I fell behind, because the second-place racer would always be about a second behind me regardless. It's frustrating to the point of never playing again to finish with a better time, by like five seconds, and a worse position. If the final lap is the only one that matters, then the race should only be one lap long. Without me, Internet would never have had sex with the DS. -m0nty

I'm not huge into racers either, but to say all there is to do is go around in a circle seemed a bit unfair to the genre. True, lots of them have non-oval tracks. The genre still sucks donkey anus though. Without me, Internet would never have had sex with the DS. -m0nty

WaveRace is noterious for this, but in the latest version, if you race a flawless race, you can stay ahead the whole time. Damn my broken GC! I want to play WaveRace again! "Of course, libertarians are a special breed because they can't explain their beliefs to anyone, even each other, without sounding like batshit crazy lunatics." - Shadarr

|
Wrong. If you wanted to "cheat" in Gran Turismo and race a LeMans car against Honda Civics you could do that and finish laps ahead of second place. |
|
And why would I want to do this? Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.
