Who will be "YOU'RE WINNER!" Who will get the "WHAM! Cock up the ass?" Which one eats a "Bag of Dicks"?

Funk - I bought an xbox about a month ago. It's a very worthwhile purchase because there's a humungous back-catalogue of games going cheap. Also, although I'm sure I'd be happy to play the next gen titles, there's nothing about them that seems to titillate me more than current gen titles. They look prettier, and some of them are probably really cool, but I'm still more eager to play Burnout 3: Revenge than anything I've seen so far. There doesn't seem to be an intrinsic gaming betterness to the next gen, is what I'm trying to say.

Just picked up Fable by Lionhead Studios/Microsoft Games for the XBOX.
Good stuff. Has echoes of Black & White written all over it. It's almost designed like, 'What if we focused on at least one of the little villagers from Black & White."

Though I guess I could give *more* money to SE and buy the slightly upgraded FFXI (slightly better visuals). If it's like the PS2 version I can play on the same account.

No it's not. Although I'm mixed on if it being a selling point for the 360 is a good idea. On one hand they've said not to expect it to look any where near the screen shots on any thing other then the 360 or a high end pc, on the other the TES games haven't exactly been bug free (there's still a few morrowind quests that are bugged with out fan patches).

I'm pretty excited to the next Morrowwind too...  I think because the last one had some much potential, I'm curious to see if they shored the huge problems with it.

If you owned a PS2 and were considering 1 additional current gen platform to go with it, which would you get?  XBOX or GameCube?  I haven't been following the GC too much, and so I don't know if the exclusives make that console more interesting than the XBOX.

If you care about online play, go for Xbox. If you play a lot of multiplatform titles, go for Xbox. Else go for Gamecube.

Live! is great, if you're into that sort of thing.  If you're a nintendo fan boi...well, I guess you wouldn't be asking.  Otherwise, I'd probably go Xbox if I had to only buy one.

Sadly, I'm going to have to agree with the hippie.  I'm pretty sure I'll get an Xbox 360 at some point, but the launch titles are pretty unremarkable, so I'll let the hardcore early adopters deal with the first revision hardware and high introductory price and I'll buy one in 6 months or so after release.

I'll buy the Revolution ASAP because Nintendo consoles always have must-play titles, since Nintendo themselves are the greatest videogaming company of all time.

I may or may not ever buy the PS3, it really depends on if there are enough must-play games for it and if the price is really as ridiculous as some people have predicted based on the cost of putting blu-ray drives in them.

I'd rather have Super Monkey Ball 3 on the Gamecube (or Xbox) than Super Monkey Ball on the DS, but whatever.  I'll take what I can get.

Between We <3 Katamari, Ultimate Spiderman and Burnout Revenge this should be a pretty good month for games.   Unless you're one of those anti-console gamers... in which case, have fun playing through Half-Life 2 again.

I chose the Gamecube over the Xbox. Mostly for Metroid and Zelda and I'm quite happy with my choice. I figured if anything really good came out on Xbox it'd likely be ported to the PS2 or PC while great Gamecube games would likely stay exclusive. There still isn't much on Xbox that interests me enough to buy it.

I know Kameo has been in development for a while (I had an old demo disc that had a preview movie for it, back when it was going to be an Xbox 1 game) but man some of those screenshots on the linked page look amazingly WoW/Night Elfish.

I chose the Gamecube over the Xbox.

The current consoles only cost about as much (for the hardware) as two games.  There are many good to great Xbox games on sale for $20 these days.  I don't really understand the concept of choosing one system over the other this late into a console generation... unless you're poor like Kenny's family.

I didn't choose this late, I chose it a long time ago. I still don't see any compelling reason to buy an Xbox to this very day though. I don't care to play console games online (I have my PC for that) so what would I use it for?

I don't really see a reason to buy an XBox when there are still good games for the systems I own to play.  I didn't buy a PS2 till I ran out of GC games.  I don't have enough shelf space or A/V ports for three consoles.

Shadarr's reason is the same as mine.

I don't have enough shelf space or A/V ports for three consoles.

It is a space issue.  And I don't have enough time to explore the libraries of both consoles.

I was in a similar situation previously except I didn't actually own the PS2, my roommate did, so I got to play most of the games I cared about on it before I moved out. I ended up getting the xbox for a few reasons:

1) My brother was getting a gamecube.
2a) Mod chip ability. Just in general there's more things to tinker with on a xbox.
2b) As a result, it's the best emulator platform.
3) Multiplatform games seem to end up on the xbox, eventually. There seems to be more PS2/Xbox only games then PS2/Gamecube games, especially sports games, and they tended to come out looking better on the xbox.

That said, the gamecube exclusives are miles better, and if I didn't have the opportunity to play them elsewhere I'd think long and hard about the Gamecube instead.

My favourite part is "By doing so, you will be helping to protect and preserve a brand...."  Because protecting a brand is one of the things I care deeply about.

Of course, right now at work I'm going through tests to make sure that everywhere it used to say "PureEdge Viewer" or something similar, it now says exactly "IBM® Workplace Forms™ Viewer".  So maybe I'm just a little bitter.
